Groups & Scales
A named set of screens or locations, so that a schedule can target forty of them without you ticking forty boxes.
Why it existsThe first twenty screens are manageable one at a time. The next twenty are not, and the failure is quiet: you add a screen in March, forget to add it to the six schedules that should cover it, and it plays nothing until somebody walks past it in June. A group fixes that at the root — add the screen to “All London cafés” once, and every schedule that targets the group picks it up.
Two kinds#
- Screen groups — a set of individual panels. Use when the thing they share is about the panel: “All portrait screens”, “All 4K panels”.
- Location groups — a set of places, and therefore every screen inside them. Use when the thing they share is about the place: “All London cafés”, “Airport sites”.
Note
Prefer a location group when either would do. A new screen installed at an existing site joins it automatically; a screen group would have to be edited.
Building one#
1Whose estate this group belongs to, if you manage several. Everything below narrows to it.
2Search, once the list is long enough to scroll.
3Select all takes exactly what you can see — with a search active, only the matches.
Example — Opening a seventh café
You create the location, pair its two screens, and add the location to “All London cafés”. Every schedule that targets that group — the lunch menu, the evening loop, the seasonal campaign — starts playing there within seconds. You did not open a single schedule.
