What the numbers mean

Every figure in the product, defined once. The same word means the same thing on every page — that is a rule the product is built to, not a coincidence.

Note

Every number on a list page is counted over the period chosen at the top of that page. Two pages showing different totals for the same thing are nearly always two different periods.

Delivery#

Requests

Every turn of the playlist — each time a screen needed something to show. This is the denominator for everything else.

Filled

The turns that produced a creative. A turn can fail to fill: an ad slot with no bid, a file that would not load.

Fill

Filled ÷ Requests, as a percentage. The single best health figure for a screen.

RTB

The programmatic half kept separate: ad slots filled ÷ ad slots requested. A network with 90% Fill and 20% RTB is playing its own content well and selling little.

Plays

Playbacks × panels. A four-panel video wall showing one item is one turn and four plays, because four panels lit up.

Impressions

Estimated audience, and only where an estimate exists. A screen with no audience settings contributes plays but no impressions — it is not counted as zero, it is not counted at all. See Screens.

Offline

Plays delivered from a screen's own queue after an outage. Part of Plays, not added to them. Shown inside the Plays cell — “56 · 14 offline” — rather than in a column of its own, because a separate column read as a second, larger number.

Money and mix#

Revenue

Money earned, kept per currency and never silently converted.

A creative's share of voice: its plays ÷ all plays in the same period and scope. Down a list it sums to 100%.

Readiness#

Coverage

The share of a screen's operating hours that any schedule actually covers. 60% means more than nine hours a day with nothing scheduled.

Rollout

How far a change has reached. A new playlist is not live until every screen has picked it up, and screens poll rather than being pushed to.

Cached

How much of what a screen has been told to play is already on its own disk — “9/12”. This is the number that predicts whether it survives an outage tonight. See Inside the player.

Two mistakes worth avoiding#

Plays is not attendance. On a video wall it multiplies by the number of panels. Comparing a four-panel wall with a single screen on Plays flatters the wall four times over; compare on Impressions or Revenue.
A high Fill with a low RTB is not a problem. It means your own content is playing reliably and little is being sold. Whether that is good depends entirely on whether you wanted to sell.
